Kyrus Joins the Casts of “Dogfight”, “Ragtime”, & “Red Velvet”

KKW - DogfightRagtimeVelvet Social

Friends! I am so incredibly excited to tell ya’ll my next theatrical ventures to end 2017 and to kick-off 2018! I’m excited to announce that I have three major productions coming up that I’d love for you to come see!

First and foremost, in November, I will be playing the role of “Boland” in the Kelsey Theatre production of Dogfight. Then in January, I will be stepping back into the role of “Coalhouse” in The Ritz Theatre Company production of Ragtime. And finally, in March, I will be playing the role of “Ira Aldridge” in the ActorsNET production of Red Velvet.

I don’t think words can describe how excited I am for those three projects! I strive to find roles and opportunities that push me to be better and improve, and these three roles certainly do that for me.

DOGFIGHT

  • WHEN: November 3-12, 2017
  • WHERE: The Kelsey Theatre – West Windsor, New Jersey
  • TICKETS: CLICK HERE

Making it’s Kelsey Theatre debut in November is the Pierrot Productions production of Dogfight, a moving pop-rock musical with a stunning score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the same people behind LaLa Land, A Christmas Story Musical, and Dear Evan Hansen. I am really excited for this production because it’s directed by Kat Ross, someone that I have admired as a director for many years and have been hoping to work with. We have been in rehearsals for the past month, and things are going well! I’m pretty sure I drop more F-bombs in this show than I have throughout my entire life… so you definitely want to leave the kids at home for this one. RAGTIME

  • WHEN: January 11 – February 4, 2018
  • WHERE: The Ritz Theatre Company – Haddon Township, New Jersey
  • TICKETS: Not On Sale Yet – CLICK HERE to Visit Theatre’s Website

I had the extraordinary opportunity to play the role of “Coalhouse” in Ragtime back in 2009. I was barely 21 years old and a college student at Rider University. I was really young back then, and while I thought my performance was fine, I think I am more excited to play the role now that I have added almost a decade of theater experience and training. I am both mentally and physically prepared to play this role-of-a-lifetime and I am SO ready to get started with rehearsals. Who knows if I’ll ever have this opportunity to play this iconic role ever again at a theater that means the world to me. I performed by Hairspray and Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party at The Ritz Theatre Company, and cannot wait to step on that amazing stage again with some really talented people.

RED VELVET

  • WHEN: March 2-18, 2018
  • WHERE: ActorsNET – Morrisville, Pennsylvania
  • TICKETS: CLICK HERE

Earlier this year, I had the incredible opportunity to do another straight play, my first in OVER ten years. In 2018, I get to put my foot back in the straight play world by portraying one of the most brilliant black actors of the 19th century, Ira Aldridge. Red Velvet takes place in the early 1800s, and it centers around black Shakespearean actor, Ira Aldridge, who finds that he is not welcome on the London stage, but still triumphs in the face of adversity. This role is definitely going to be a major challenge for me as an actor, but I cannot wait to face that challenge head-on. More about this show as we get closer.
