#LIFEOFKY – MY LIFE AS AN ACTOR – DAY 10: “Comedy is a Combination of Tragedy and Time”

IMG_0670[1]+Today started out quite fine. Woke up at 7am, train by 8:31am, GSP by 9:10am. Everything was going quite well.

+Today was important at GSP because we stopped working on the second show and went back to focusing on the musical we learned and blocked last week. For having about four days off from it, we did quite well thankfully.

+Our wonderful music director Matt Castle came back to help us work out some music kinks, and he was also joined by the composer of the musical that we’re doing. It was very nice to perform for both of them today. It added a nice boost of energy.

+I struggled a little bit today because I just could not get some of the lyrics and dialogue down. I mean, I got the context of line out, but it was not what the words actually were. They are strict about these things in Professional World, and understandably so. I plan on spending a lot of time memorizing lines. It is just so hard because I am memorizing Forum, four shows for GSP, choreography for ACL, and the music for Big River … I am exhausted and it is really starting to take it’s toll mentally.

+I also suffer from a theater illness known as Rehearsal Remorse. For those of you who unfamiliar with this term, it means that you are rehearsing a scene or a song, and when you mess up on the dialogue or the lyrics, you immediately apologize, emotionally taking yourself out of the scene. I get so frustrated with myself sometimes that my Rehearsal Remorse Disease acts up. I need to just relax and let the words flow out. I know these lyrics and I know this dialogue … I’ve practiced tons of times … I just need more confidence.

+Also, I have to give a shout-out to my #GSPFamily – Rachelle, Brad, Patti, and Crystal … you four people are amazing and I adore you. 🙂

+Lunch today was a pulled pork footlong from Subway.

+Lisa Lampanelli is coming to GSP next week. The cast and I are really hoping that we get to meet her while she’s in the theater next week. How cool would that be?! Of course, I’ll keep you all updated.

+So with everything going close to average for today … things started to go downhill. First, this happened…

+And after that … things got a little worse … THIS happened…

+So yeah… I was supposed to drive down to Delaware to go to ACL rehearsal … and that did not happen :/ #nothappy

+Now, after my wonderful father came to the rescue, I am finally home and getting ready to start my day all over again tomorrow. Let’s hope that tomorrow goes a little bit better.

Gnite … #lifeofky
